Central Market

For a taste of everyday Riga, visit Riga Central Market, located in and around its distinctive former Zeppelin hangars. It is one of Europe’s largest markets and a great place to discover Latvian produce, smoked fish, rye bread, seasonal berries, and other local specialties.

Parks and the Daugava

Riga is a remarkably green capital. Walk through Bastejkalns, Kronvalda Park, and the parks along the city canal, or enjoy a stroll along the Daugava River promenade. Many of these areas are just a few minutes' walk from the Old Town.

Kalnciema Quarter

Cross the Daugava to discover Kalnciema Quarter, an area known for its restored wooden architecture and relaxed atmosphere. Regular markets and cultural events offer local food, crafts, design, and music.

Explore Beyond Riga

If you have some extra time, several attractive destinations are within easy reach. Jurmala, with its long white-sand beaches and historic wooden villas, is only a short trip away. For nature and history, consider Sigulda and the Gauja National Park, or visit Kemeri National Park for its wetlands, forests, and famous Great Kemeri Bog boardwalk.
